CORONAVIRUS – MARCH 25 2020

Dear customers,

Since the arrival of the CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) a few weeks ago, it has been an unusual situation for us all.

We thank you for your patience, collaboration and understanding.

We continue to apply and follow all measures recommended by our banner and public health authorities to prevent the spread of the virus to customers and employees. This is our priority.

Since the beginning of this crisis, we have put several measures in place to protect you and our employees, as well as help contain the spread of COVID-19.

In this regard, you will have noted that Plexiglas windows were installed in some of our stores, and soon in our other locations. Floor and store signage have also been put in place to encourage social distancing.

Various other signage has also been put in place for you to help us fight the spread of the virus, such as promoting the temporary use of credit, debit cards and the “tapping” from your phone, avoiding bringing reusable bags, temporary interruption of bottle and can deposit as well as other measures. We would be grateful if you could help us implement these measures by paying attention to the in-store communications and conform to them.

Restriction of opening and closing hours of our stores as well ceasing service in various departments are necessary to reassign our staff on essential tasks, namely sanitizing the store and equipment, ensure availability of basic products, and filling shelves.

According to the Government of Quebec, Health Canada and WHO, wearing gloves and masks is not recommended. For more information on this, we invite you to consult their respective sites, in particular the section concerning COVID-19.

Many products are still out of stock given the volume of purchases made in recent weeks. Reception of goods is still problematic. Despite this, alternative products are available until the situation is back to normal.

It is also possible that long queues appear in store given the influx and the beyond norm volume of purchases. We apologize.

Despite this, our staff strives to provide exceptional customer service.

CORONAVIRUS – March 19, 2020

Dear Customers,

We would like to share important initiatives implemented by Sobeys for all IGA stores regarding the COVID-19 situation.

As of March 19, all IGA and IGA Extra stores will open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. This is necessary to limit the regrouping of individuals and to concentrate our operational efforts in areas where purchasing volumes are most important.

Also, customer service will be temporarily suspended for the following departments: deli / cheese, bakery, fish, meat and ready-to-eat (except the hot menu). The departments are NOT closed. We need to temporarily reassign staff to essential tasks, which include the availability of a large number of packaged products in all departments, cleaning up the entire store, and maximizing essential store services.

These measures, and a host of others, are necessary to help contain the spread of the virus and to fulfill our mission of “essential service” to the public.

We thank you for your understanding and patience for the past few days, and for those to come.

Our evening MENU is available at our Place Dupuis and, now, Nun’s Island stores.

Served between 5pm and 7pm, Monday to Friday, this takeaway meal contains a protein and two side dishes.

All for $9,99 + taxes.

A new exclusivity at IGA Louise Ménard for our customers: IGA Louise Ménard coffee! Two roasts to satisfy every taste: mellow and full-bodied.

These coffees are made from grains harvested in less than 6 months; the freshest on the market!

The mellow flavour consists of Guatemala Medium Roast 100% Arabica grains, while the full-bodied blend is a mix of ¾ Colombian Black Supremo and ¼ Colombian Supremo brown 100% Arabica grains.

These coffees are made exclusively for IGA Louise Ménard by Café Napoleon, a company known for its quality products.

Small gestures for society and the environment

We are proud to have been providing year after year a helping hand to organizations that help the poor and those going through difficult times. A major turning point of this contribution in 2014: a partnership with Moisson Montreal, with the goal to significantly increase assistance to charities in the greater Montreal area and the province of Quebec.

Every month, each of our five branches gives to Moisson Montreal edible food of different kind: meat, dry goods, fruits and vegetables, bakery, etc. Our contribution has helped Moisson Montréal offer meat to 45 collective kitchens and meals on wheels, which also them to perform spectacular savings they can use to improve their services.

Furthermore, we undertook to install in many of our branches electronic waste recycling bins as well as used battery recycling boxes.

Finally, in collaboration with Jour de la Terre, our 5 branches have gone even more “green” by improving their management of recyclable materials.

All little things for society and the environment!
